Policies & Enrollment Agreement
Rising with Melodies Music School (RWM-MS) is committed to providing a consistent, supportive, and productive learning environment for every student. Because each student's lesson time is reserved exclusively for them, the following policies help ensure fairness, consistency, and continuity of instruction for all families.
1. Cancellation Policy
- A lesson cancelled with 24 hours' or more notice will not be charged once per calendar month, as a courtesy extended by RWM-MS to each enrolled student.
- Any additional cancellation within the same calendar month will be charged the full lesson fee, regardless of the amount of notice provided.
- Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full lesson fee.
- No-shows are considered late cancellations and will be charged the full lesson fee.
- The monthly courtesy cancellation does not roll over from one month to another and has no cash value.
- A pattern of frequent cancellations may result in a review of the student's continued enrollment with RWM-MS.
- If a cancellation fee or other outstanding balance remains unpaid, future lessons may be placed on hold until the balance has been paid in full.
2. Late Arrival Policy
Each student's lesson time is reserved exclusively for them.
- Students and families are expected to arrive or log in on time and be ready for the lesson at the scheduled start time.
- If a student arrives late, the lesson will still end at the originally scheduled time.
- Additional lesson time will not be provided to compensate for late arrival, regardless of whether advance notice of the delay was given.
- This policy applies to both in-person and online lessons.
3. Attendance & Scheduling
- Each student is assigned a regular weekly day and time that is reserved exclusively for them.
- Consistent attendance is essential. Music instruction is cumulative, and missed lessons can significantly affect a student's progress and continuity.
- Families are expected to make every reasonable effort to attend scheduled lessons.
- Both in-person and online lesson options are available, subject to RWM-MS availability and instructor approval.
4. Illness & Health
The health and well-being of our students, families, and teachers are important to RWM-MS.
- If a student or a member of the student's household is contagious or experiencing an illness that could reasonably expose others, the student should not attend an in-person lesson.
- Families should contact RWM-MS as soon as possible to discuss an appropriate alternative, such as an online lesson when available.
- RWM-MS may request that a student participate remotely or remain home when there is a reasonable concern about contagious illness.
5. RWM-MS Closures & Holidays
- Students will not be charged for lessons that fall on scheduled RWM-MS holidays, major holiday closures, or announced breaks.
- Families will receive RWM-MS's closure and holiday calendar in advance for each term.
- RWM-MS closures are separate from student-requested cancellations and do not count toward the monthly courtesy cancellation.
6. Withdrawal & Termination of Enrollment
- A minimum of 30 days' written notice by email is required to withdraw a student from RWM-MS.
- Tuition and lesson fees remain the responsibility of the family during the 30-day notice period, subject to RWM-MS's regular policies.
- The 30-day notice period allows RWM-MS adequate time to offer the student's reserved lesson time to another student or family on the waitlist.
- Withdrawal is not considered complete until written notice has been received and acknowledged by RWM-MS.
7. Parent/Guardian & Practice Expectations
Student progress depends greatly on consistent practice and support outside of lessons.
- Students are expected to have regular access to an appropriate instrument for practice between lessons.
- Daily practice is strongly recommended and should be appropriate to the student's age, level, and individual goals.
- Parents and guardians are encouraged to support consistent practice habits and help students establish a positive routine at home.
- For younger students, a parent or legal guardian is expected to remain nearby and available throughout the lesson, whether the lesson is conducted in person or online.
- Parents and guardians are encouraged to communicate with RWM-MS regarding questions, concerns, or challenges affecting the student's progress.
8. Code of Conduct & RWM-MS Property
RWM-MS is committed to maintaining a respectful, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Students and family members are expected to treat instructors, other students, RWM-MS staff, and RWM-MS property with respect.
- Appropriate and respectful behavior is required during every lesson and while entering, leaving, or waiting at RWM-MS.
- Students and family members must handle all pianos, instruments, furniture, technology, and other RWM-MS equipment with appropriate care.
- Any damage to RWM-MS property caused by a student or family member through intentional, negligent, or inappropriate behavior may be the financial responsibility of the student's parent or legal guardian.
- RWM-MS reserves the right to suspend or terminate a student's enrollment when there is a serious or repeated violation of these policies, disruptive behavior, misconduct, or conduct that negatively affects the safety, learning environment, or well-being of others.
9. Policy Acknowledgment & Agreement
By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to comply with the Rising with Melodies Music School (RWM-MS) Policies & Enrollment Agreement, including the cancellation policy, late arrival policy, attendance requirements, illness policy, and 30-day withdrawal requirement.
I understand that the student's weekly lesson time is reserved exclusively for the student and that fees may apply when lessons are cancelled or missed in accordance with these policies.
I certify that I am the parent or legal guardian of the student named above and that I am authorized to enroll the student and agree to these policies on the student's behalf.
